AFJ announces 2017 Inaugural China Awards winners

Airfinance Journal publishes the winners for the Inaugural China Awards, including deal awards and winners of individual awards.

In their first year, the awards are set to become an essential calendar fixture for airlines and the Chinese aviation finance sector.

Each year, via its Global Deals of the Year Awards, Airfinance Journal shines a spotlight on aviation transactions that stand out in terms of size, timing, pricing and contribution to a new market standard.

The winners list for these new China Awards, which will take place in Shanghai on 14 June 2018, was compiled after a rigorous judging process.

More than 40 submissions were received covering 33 unique transactions. The submissions were then narrowed down to three deals per category by Airfinance Journal's editorial and data experts.

The shortlist was then passed on to a judging panel of three senior aviation finance professionals: Harvey Lau, former partner at Baker McKenzie’s Shanghai office (now retired); Peter Huijbers, chief executive officer of CALS Aviation; and Sandra Chen, managing director at Fontainburg Aviation Capital. These three judges then independently decided on the winners, with no input or influence from Airfinance Journal.

The winners they chose are as follows:
