Avianca details request to reject lessor collateral

Avianca has immediately requested to reject 14 leased aircraft including two Airbus A330-330s, one Boeing 787-8, two A321s, seven A320s and two A319s, according to a bankruptcy filing.

The three widebody aircraft belong to KG Aircraft Leasing (two 2012, 2013 Rolls Royce-powered Airbus A330-300s) and Orix Aviation (2015, Rolls Royce-powered 787-8).

Two Airbus A321s, with 2014 build years and IAE V2500-A5 engines belong to Goal while two CFM-powered A319s are owned by AerCap (2002) and Zephyrus Aviation (2003).

CFM engines power Orix's three A320 aircraft (two with 2013 build years, 2011) and two units at GECAS (2011, 2014).  AerCap has two 2008 built, V2500-A5-powered aircraft.

According to Airfinance Journal data, Avolon has 16 aircraft with Avianca including 13 A320s, two A319s and one A330. In December 2019 Avolon completed a sale and leaseback transaction with the carrier involving A320/A321 aircraft with 2009 to 2015 build years.

SMBC Aviation Capital has 15 aircraft with the carrier, including two 787 (one 787-8, one 787-9),10 A320s and three A321s (nine of which are Neos). It also has one managed A320 with the carrier. The lessor indicates all pre-delivery payments were repaid last year.

Orix Aviation has five aircraft with Avianca (one 787-8 has been rejected) and four A320s, while ICBC Leasing has four units and Aercap has three units with the carrier.

Avianca had an operating fleet of 155 aircraft at the end of 2019.

Latin America’s second-largest airline estimates liabilities between $1-10 billion in a filing with the bankruptcy court. The airline says it will continue operations while it restructured its debts.
